


With a preface by S Pepys Cockerell, an English architect best known for Sezincote House in Gloucestershire. Lord Leighton was known for his historical, biblical and classical paintings. They are from different periods of Leighton's life, and therefore career. The forty to this work were displayed on view at the Fine Art Society's rooms in 1896-7. It was produced by the Fine Art Society in 1898 and comprises of many sketches found in Lord Leighton's portfolios following his death. With forty plates total, each with a brief description leaf preceding it.
